What Is Tadhkeer?
Al-A’raf – 7:3
Arabic
ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوۡلِيَآءَۗ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Al-A’la – 87:9
Arabic
فَذَكِّرۡ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
Usually tadhkeer or dhikr is used for a reminder. But it seems in surah 87 that it refers to more admonishing. What is the true essence of this word? Is it hinting towards the fitrah that is discussed later in surah araaf in ayah 172?
