What is the evidence for this?

    Is it this ayah:

    Al-Baqarah – 2:25

    English – Pickthall

And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) unto those who believe and do good works; that theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow; as often as they are regaled with food of the fruit thereof, they say: this is what was given us aforetime; and it is given to them in resemblance. There for them are pure companions; there for ever they abide.

Or is it the fact that the Quran over and iced says ‘gardens with rivers flowing underneath’? Because that makes it seem vague and repetitive. Is this because the reality is so awesome that we can’t imagine it so this analogy is reused over and over again?

Your second interference is more convincing to me because verse 26 talks about parable.
Also i think the analogy of flowing water and garden is used because Quran address Arabs. For desert people it will be a very desired thing.

I wonder if that’s enough to prove they are from the mutashabihaat

Anything that relates to the unseen is explained in mutashabihaat I believe including heaven and hell.

Is this a logical deduction from some ayaat or do some ayaat state this principle?

Quran itself talks about some ayahs being mutashabihaat(read beginning verse of surah al-Imran). Farahi scholars interpret it in that way. Recently Ghamidi sab also explained this on ilm o hikmat at dunya tv.

Yes I know the Quran says this but I’m asking what it refers to. Which ayaat does the Quran itself say are mutashabihaat?

The explanation of mutashabihaat is that they describe the unseen matters in words that we can understand. We can apply this to anything that relates to the unseen in the Quran I guess.

The word mutahsibihaat simply means those things denoted by allegory. I am asking what the Quran says comes under this chapter of things denoted with allegory

Things that relate to the unseen world

Which ayah says المتشابهات من الغيب?

It’s in the word mutashabihaat. You’ll see whenever a matter that relates to God’s doing that we can’t see is mentioned, the Quran says that it is from the mutashabihaat.

For more details and explanation watch Dr Shehzad’s video.

Yes my question still stands. Who is to say the rivers of milk and honey mentioned are not actual literal rivers of milk and honey? What is the evidence that allegory is being employed here rather than a literal reading be taken?

Bro watch the video again. He gave a reference from surah Baqarah where people of heaven say we were told about these things in heaven through mutashabihaat. Listen 8:30 min onwards again.

Yes I have linked the ayah above. That relates to the rizq in heaven. The ayah itself mentions gardens and rivers. Who is to say that that river isn’t actually a real river. And the ayah doesn’t even refer to or talk about jahannam. In jahannam the tree of zaqum is mentioned and it’s explained as a trial in the Quran too but who is to say whether the fire of jahannam is actual fire or not?

Who is to say it is literally referring to garden and rivers? The heaven and hell aren’t yet created. The Quran say that a new world will be created. You think the rivers that we see today will be recreated as they are? What I have understood is that the word mutashabihaat suggests that it is something like a river not exactly the river. This is tafsil of heaven that’s done using things that appeal the audience at that time(arabs). The ijmal is that you will get what ever you want and more.
