In discussion against suicide it is said that insani nafs has hurmat and cant be killed whether its ur own. It will be put in the moral sins category. Then when one does things which harm his health and will lead him to death eventually. Why are they not considered as moral sins. Like smoking a cigarette.

Like smoking is neither a positive thing nor a neutral but a negative thing, so even if small, like suicide one can also say that by smoking he is doing kufran e naimat (being ungrateful to the blessings of Allah)?

There is no correlation of smoking with suicide. If consumption of something’s not good for health, one should logically abstain from it, it is not a matter of religion. Smoking is not something that immediately harms a person; just the way we don’t give any fatwas against people consuming red meat abundantly, processed meat, processed food, sugary drinks etc. which are harmful in their respective domains (some less some more) similarly, we ought not give any fatwa here as well.

Yes. Totally right, but like the thing with wich smoking is compared, comparison seems not ok. Like that is food, and smoking is not that?

I don’t see any problem in comparison.

One is drinking sugary drinks which are not part of one’s primary meal and other one is smoking a cigarette which is also not part of one’s primary meal. What’s the difference?

The main concern is the damage caused to health by smoking, and sometimes the Foods that Umer Sb has mentioned are more detrimental than smoking itself. Both are damaging, one is just more visually comprehensible and resisted while the other is not. So, the comparison stands true.

So to just boil it down, can cigarette or tobacco, things like that can be said makroh or mubah or morally wrong because it damage the health? And should it be avoided Islamically?

That’s ok, like if it’s harming another person. But if it is to you only turn what’s the Islamic stance?

Because it’s also a thing of fun like it happens inthe villages people gather and hookah?

That depends on the degree of harm, if harm is to a point which tantamounts to consciously acting to lose one’s life or something equivalent, then this would be considered Haram. But for other matters causing some kind of harm to the individual, these have been left to the intellect of the individual. And it is only practical, since deciding lower degree harms can become very subjective at an individual level, therefore, it is only natural to let human intellect decide such matters for themselves at an individual level. This doesn’t fall within domain of religion since no clear ethical trigger is invoked for religion to interfere.
