Can someone share Ghamidi Sahab opinion on deduction of Sales Tax from Zakat. I know about his opinion on Income tax but during recent discussion with Hasan Illyas Bhai Ghamidi Sahab mentioned that petroleum levy is different from Income tax therfore it cannot be deducted from income tax. So what about Sales tax?

Thanks for the answer but in Pakistan the rate of sales tax is 13-17 percent whereas salaried person is supposed to pay 10% of his income in zakat. This means very few people would be paying zakat.

If someone pays more in taxes then the zakat due on him then he doesn’t need to pay any additional zakat.

Please enter appropriate numbers in out Zakat Calculator after reading description for each box. When you reach the end, it will generate a statement showing you exactly what percentage is applied to what and how much you owe. It’s also a great way to learn the sharia of zakat.
