Jihad In Modern Age
The Quran seems to urge Muslims to resist oppression by Jihad and have tawakkul in Allah’s help even when the enemy seems stronger and more powerful. How does that apply to the modern nuclear age where military power between countries can be massively disproportional, usually not in favour of Muslim countries?

This not the right description of Quran’s law of Jihad. The law of divine help is based on following three parameters:
1) the basic thing that entitles people to Divine Help is perseverance and resolution
2) an army must be equipped with proper military strength if it is to wage war.
3) it is the force of faith that compensates for any lack of material force
Finally, it needs to be appreciated that the ratios stated in these verses are about the Companions (rta) of the Prophet (sws) – who were a group of noble souls who waged jihad alongside the Prophet (sws), and as a result of a direct command of the Almighty. In later times, it can be estimated whether this ratio has increased or decreased keeping in view the extent of faith Muslims have.
