    is it ok to say salamalikum instead of Asalamualikm . what is difference between them. I say several times salamalikm to my friends and they say it is wrong .

    I think both mean the same. Assalamualaikum has the word ‘al‘ in the beginning which makes it definite.One saying with “Tareef” (with Alif and Lam) and other with “Tankeer” (with Tanween). It would suffice to use the indefinite form ‘Salamalaikum’, but using the definite particle ‘al-‘ is superior as it directly addresses the participants.
