Atheism And Morality
Posted by Ahsan Syed on July 22, 2021 at 5:04 amAssalam walikum,
Mera sawal hai ki maine bhot se atheist ko suna hai vo khete hai ki agr koi acha kaam krna ho to usme religion ki koi zarurat nhi jese charity vgera, aur agr log bs Isliye hi ache kaam krte hai ki Allah dekh rha hai to vo thk nhi hai, kyuki ache kaam krne ke liye kisi reward ki greed hona zaruri nhi.
Ghamidi sahab ka isme kya point of view hai?

Moderator July 22, 2021 at 8:55 amA moral atheist can only exist if such a person decides to not use his faculties of reasoning and rationality.
For even the most moral and ethical of us who view life as time between being born in this world and death, our moral principles are logically supposed to be very volatile. It’s completely rational that any decent incentive should make an atheist part ways with morality. An atheist who has a chance to hugely benefit from something without the fear of getting caught but chooses not to has no rational reason for his choice.
It is when we believe with rational understanding of the arguments for our beliefs that our lives are in fact eternal and that one day soon enough we will be held accountable for our actions, only then our moral principles tend to become more concrete; we find it absolutely foolish to buy even the biggest comfort for a fleeting moment of this life at the expense of an eternal discomfort or possibly even grave suffering.

Any supplementary video of Ghamidi Sahab on this topic?
Also can you comment on the the idea of “greed of reward and fear of punishment devaluing good deeds.” that doing good deeds without the incentive of a reward and fear of punishment is considered more “righteous.”

Moderator July 22, 2021 at 12:05 pmI don’t recall Ghamidi sahab directly addressing this question in a video or an article, however, my response comes from understanding his viewpoint about the subject.
I am planning on directly asking him several questions regarding atheism in upcoming Ask Ghamidi Live sessions so please stay tuned.
Ask Ghamidi allows only one question per discussion. Please feel free to create a new discussion for your other question.

Dr. Irfan Shahzad
