Why Azwaaj In Quran Is Always Translated As Wives And Not As Spouses
“64:14 O you who have believed, indeed, among your wives and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them. But if you pardon and overlook and forgive – then indeed, God is Forgiving and Merciful.”
My question is that why do people often translate the word azwaaj as wives when it clearly means spouses.
My second question naturally builds from the first one that if Allah actually means wives in the above verse then is Allah saying husbands are not trials for wives when the ground realities clearly show that to not be true.
