    Assalamualaikum

    There is a Hadith in which Prophet SAW commented on a type of hair cutting:

    (۸۲۳۰)۔عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ اَیْضًا اَنَّ النَّبِیَّ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم رَاٰی صَبِیًّا قَدْ حُلِقَ بَعْضُ شَعْرِہٖ وَ تُرِکَ بَعْضُہٗ، فَنَہٰی عَنْ ذٰلِکَ، وَقَالَ: ((احْلِقُوْا کُلَّہُ اَوِ اتْرُکُوْا کُلَّہٗ)) (مسند احمد: ۵۶۱۵)

    ۔ سیدنا ابن عمر ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وآلہ ‌وسلم نے ایک بچہ دیکھا، اس کے سر کے کچھ بال منڈوائے گئے تھے اور کچھ چھوڑ دئیے گئے تھے، آپ ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وآلہ ‌وسلم نے فرمایا: سارا سر منڈوا دو یا سارا سر چھوڑ دو۔

    Ahadith mostly relate to matters of application and are description of narrators in their own words. Therefore, no principle can be deducted from them. All such matters need to be seen in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

    This narration and other related narrations seem like an advice of the Prophet (sws) in his capacity as an elder of the society when he saw an inappropriate haircut. This is not a religious injunction, unless something forbidden in Quran and Sunnah becomes a part of that haircut.
