  • Will Salah Be Accepted If One Earns Even A Spoon From Haram Means

Posted by Amara Khondekar on February 20, 2022 at 6:28 am

There are hadith about whose Namaz are not accepted

    1. Who drinks liquor

    2. Visiting Astrologer

    3. Even eating one spoon of haram.

Although I found only first 2 points everywhere.

Does anyone knows if the third hadith saying whoever eat even one morsel of Haram food Namaz will not get accepted.

    Is it authentic?

If someone goes to palm reader , his namaz is not accepted for 40 days, but if he repent from his actions then this punishment is lifted because it is new beginning now.

If one eats haram food, this will cause one’s dua to be rejected, hence it was reported in a hadith:

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allaah is Good and does not accept anything but that which is good. Allaah has enjoined upon the believers that which He enjoined upon the Messengers.” Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allaah — Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with, and be grateful to Allaah”

    [al-Baqarah 2:172]

And He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyibaat [all kinds of Halaal (lawful) foods which Allaah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits)] and do righteous deeds”

    [al-Muminoon 21:51]

Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a man who travels a great deal and becomes disheveled and covered with dust, who raises his hands to the heavens (and says), ‘O Lord, O Lord,’ when his food is haraam, his drink is haraam, his clothes are haraam and he has been nourished with haraam, so how can he receive a response?.

The meaning is that it is unlikely that his dua will be answered. But salah, will still be accepted, in the sense that it serves to fulfil his obligations, and he does not have to repeat it.

      Salam Brother,

Even for a person drink liquor Namaz obligations will be fulfilled. But he will not be rewarded for 40 days.

So do you mean even if a person eat one spoon of Haram. His Namaz will get fulfilled but will not get any reward for 40 days?

Namaz not being accepted for fourty days in case of Alcohol consumption means that Allah will put his Salah acceptance on hold for fourty days to see whether one has sincerely repented from this sin and whthere he relapses or not, since alcohol addiction can result in a relapse, so fourty days are to ensure one’s consistent and serious repentance.

There’s no such fourty days thing in case of Haram earning, but it is a sin in itself for which one will be held accountable if one doesn’t sincerely repent and make good the loss suffered by other people because of his Haram earnings.
