Bani-Ismael were direct descendents of a Rasul (Prophet Ismael (sws)) and they were following the teachings of their Rasul which later on turned into polytheistic beliefs and some other innovations in religion. However, even till the time of Prophet Muhammad (sws), people were aware of Deen-e-Hanif, not with exact details, but enough to stay away from Polytheism and to perfom religious rituals like Hajj and Salah without any innovation (‘Bidat‘).
