Respecting Other Religions And Their Symbols
Assalamualaikum
Muslims say to respect other religions and their symbols (but you criticize them in an academic way),but it seems that Quran is saying to not to say bad about them just for they don’t say any bad words for Allah.
Al-Quran
Surah No. 6 – Ayah No. 108
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
وَلَا تَسُبُّوا الَّذِيۡنَ يَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ فَيَسُبُّوا اللّٰهَ عَدۡوًاۢ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍ ؕ كَذٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمۡ ۖ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ مَّرۡجِعُهُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُهُمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ۞
Translation:
And do not abuse (Insult using foul language.) those whom they invoke other than Allah, lest they should abuse* Allah trangressingly without knowledge. This is how We have made the deeds of every community attractive in their sight. Then, to their Lord is their return whereafter He shall tell them what they have been doing.

Like one thing is to respect the other religion out of the sense that other people who are the followers of that religion has emotions attached with that religion, but from this Ayah apparently it seems that respecting other’s religions, but not because of that sense but for that if we will say wrong to their god taht can result in that they may say bad to our God. Like one is you just respecting that religion and don’t mock or abuse that, other is because abusing etc can result in that they will say wrong to our God, that’s why we will not say bad.
