    1) Was Hijri calender approved by prophet pbuh?

    2) Is it an Arabic calender or Islamic calender?

    3) Is it compulsory for muslims ‘only’ to follow Hijri calender as their can be and there are many other calenders according to different cultures.

    4) can collectively if muslim community decides, can they shift islamic festivals according to their own calendar? Like here in india can we shift Month of Ramzan to a month like December?

    5) The purpose behind last question was to know if ramzan has some spiritual or metaphysical benefits hidden in it or it starts wherever muslim ummah decides it collectively. For example if we get to see the moon a day late, but moon was there present hidden in clouds, will that day be counted for Allah or not.

    Thanks in advance.

There are two different things to understand. Lunar months are appointed by God for different islamic rituals like Ramadan, Hajj, etc. but Hijri calendar, to count the years from the event of hijra, was adopted by Muslims in the era of the second caliph Umar. We can follow our local or international calendar but appointed months of Islamic rituals cannot be changed.

Ramadan is a month of blessings. Difference of dates due to different climates or because of the moon hidden in clouds does not affect the matter of blessings. Muslims are obliged to start the month with whatever resources they have, the blessings of God bestow upon them accordingly.
