Wife's Choice In The Number Of Children
If the husband wants to have a very large family (husband wants 6 children, wife is content with 3) whereas the wife thinks she’ll not be able to take care of the children along with her career which the husband says that she can pursue, can she go for contraception without the husband’s consent?
Any hadith or ayat to convince the husband to consider wife’s choice in the number of children?

I am unaware of such hadith or verse.
But it has to be mutually decide by the husband and the wife.

The general principle for married congenial life is to have mutual love. Anything or any demand which may harm this harmony, may be avoided.
People have different capacities, tendencies and priorities. Marriage partners should consider such differences otherwise they may exploit each other.
In this particular case, mutual consulation and the advice of elders and other scholars whom both trust, may be invoked. The primary purpose of marriage is to have children, so wife or husband is not supposed to use any method to terminate the possiblity of having children on their own.
If your husband’s drive to have more children is religious, he should know that to have or not to have children is not a concern of religion. God has not ordained to have children or more children.
Also, he has not sole authority to decide the number of children. wife is the part of this process, rather she has far greater part and contribution in it. Her consent is necessary.
This matter is to be resolved on ethical grounds, not on legal or shariah grounds.
Ideally, such matters should be decided at the time of marriage.
