Charity To Non-deserving
I usually give charity money to beggars. I don’t know whether they’re truly deserving people or professional beggars. Am i right in doing so?

You are encouraging them to beg rather than do something to earn their livelihood. Also there are cases when beggary has become a profession

The Islamic view on this issue is that if someone comes to you asking for help, and you can afford to give, then you must give.
That said, beggary as a profession is definitely a problem. To counter that I think we should be genuinely interested in the person’s problem, ask him questions, and help him in the best possible way rather than handing him over a few bills and driving away. For example, if he’s hungry we can can buy him food instead of giving him the money. Also at the level of the society we should encourage our governments to crackdown on such professional begging operations and implement strict laws against it.

Can you please provide references for the first part of your statement ? I suppose the second part is not mentioned in Qur’an/Hadeeth and is our own mind’s inference.

There are several ayahs and ahadith, however, it’s hard to just pinpoint at an ayahs or two without being able to communicate the entire message in the big picture. However, I think the following ayah shall help make the point.
Quran 17:28 – Translation by Asad
And if thou [must] turn aside from those [that are in want, because thou thyself art] seeking to obtain thy Sustainer’s grace and hoping for it, at least speak unto them with gentle speech. -
Please keep in mind that in Pakistan there are gangs which make children and women beg and keep maximum of their earnings. They are so organized that every day the women and children are dropped in different places in the city, they beg the whole day and are picked up in the evening. This racket has been going on for years. We have to stop this. Give food if you want to but no money please.
