What Islam says about cursed places where Allah had sent punishments in the past?
One can visit such places?
Can we populate such places as normal cities?
Madain Saleh (Al Hijr) in Al-Ula region Saudi Arabia; related to Samud
Madyan in Tabuk region related to Prophet Shaoib (AS) and Mosa (AS)
I heard from people that on his way to Tabuk, OUR BELOVED Prophet Mohammed (SAW) asked COMPANIONS TO PASS THIS PLACE QUICKLY. It is giving many Muslims an impression that as if it is not allowed to visit such place even with the intention of visiting some historical place (Nabateans civilization).

Places are not cursed. it is the people who were cursed. some of such places were populated later. for example Yemen. it was the homeland of the people of Saba, they were destroyed and later it was again populated.
The advice of the prophet was to keep alive the sense of fear while visiting these places when their ruins are still there to remind the curse of God.
