Showing Off And Telling People Of Our Blessing
Hello there
Assalamualaikum,
My question is that sometimes we hear some people of knowledge say that showing off blessings, or that the blessings be heard of can be show off etc, like a person showing off his wealth or status etc that this is also Riya (dikhawa)
So my question was what is the Islamic concept of Riya (show off), is it that, one mentions his own blessings or good traits to others (like wealth or good knowledge of science) so that other people think high of him and he wants to make people think great and high and think big of him and praise him internally and externally like “Wowww, this man is very knowledgeable and very smart ,Wowww”
Or is it like one should not mention his good traits or blessings to others, in itself. Even if his intention is not that people think high and big of him. For example an I.T technician mentions his good knowledge of computer to others, not to make them think high of himself. But to bring into their knowledge about this so that they can fulfill their needs like fixing broken computers or building a software in future and by benefiting them by working for their problem, the technician also gets a chance for earning. In other words he does not mentions it with intention to make people think high of him, but to make them think that he can work for their problems of computers and in return for it earns money for doing it. So that wouldn’t come under show off right?
