Hadith To Flee To Mountains To Save One's Religion From Afflictions
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “A time will soon come when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep which he will take on the top of mountains and the places of rainfall (valleys) so as to flee with his religion from afflictions.”

This is about the foretold hard times of chaos or turmoil or anarchy and evil. In such scenarios, a man of God would prefer to go away from the population to save his faith and tranquility.

Is this true in present times? Should one leave the place where there is moral degradation or is it about the political turmoil!

I don’t think so, however, there is the freedom to worship, preach and work for the betterment of society. If one feels otherwise, one may go away to live in peace somewhere peaceful.

This is not a religious injunction, but a depiction of times when staying steadfast on religion would be really hard that fleeing to mountain with sheep would seem like the best course of action.
