Human history has been divided into several periods.

    Human History | Wikipedia

When it is said that something stands in the light of history, it means that on the whole it is verifiable. The pre-historic era, on the other hand, is largely unverifiable.

For something to be in the light of history does not imply that every detail of it can be reconstructed. Those things that were transmitted to us through isolate reports have much lesser credibility. In contrast those are established beyond a reasonable doubt that were mass transmitted with perpetuity and consensus of such a large body of people that it is inconceivable for them to lie or conspire.
