There is no such change occurred which necessitates obliterating the verses related to alcohol. Their injunctions are still intact.
Believers! [Prayer is the greatest manifestation of the directive of worshipping God given earlier; so,] do not approach the place of the prayer when you are drunk [97] until you are able to know what you are saying (4: 43)
They ask you about drinking and gambling [because in their society these are also a means of helping the poor]. Say: There is great sin in both, [and no doubt] they also have some benefits for people, but their sin is far greater than their benefits. (2: 219)
It tells how gradually God brings people to something which was originally prohibited but was in vogue for a long time and how it was tolerated for some time before it was banned.
However, there are some other verses whose injunctions are ineffective after some other verse superseded them but they are kept to let us know a problem evolved to another level.
