Surah Fatiha In Prayer
Do one need to recite Surah Fatiha while praying behind Imam? Or if Imam is reciting loudly one can listen?
I have further questions after this but will appreciate if you can answer this first and then my question will be based on your answer.

There are different views on this matter. According to Ghamidi saheb, one should stay silent listening to the recitation of Imam as per the instruction of the Quran:
[Therefore,] when this Qur’ān is recited to you, listen attentively to it and remain silent so that you may be shown mercy. (7: 204)
However, one should recite Fatiha when there are silent prayers of Zuhar and Asr.

Alright. So stay silent when Surah Fatiha is being recited by the Imam in the first 2 rakats and then recite in the other 2 and similar approach in the other prayers as well.
1. Now the other question is when to count as joining in the rakat. If I have missed the Fatiha recitation and joined in when the imam was reciting other Surah or when imam was in Ruku, will it still be counted as one rakat for me? Even though I didn’t recite Surah Fatiha myself or listened to the imam recitation.
2. Also this question is related to the first one. What if I joined when Imam was in the middle of reciting Surah Fatiha like he was about to finish so I didn’t listen to the complete recitation, should I recite the Surah Fatiha myself while Imam is reciting other Surah?

This is the matter of Ijihad. To me, the recitation or listening of Fatiah needs to be done before going to Ruku. However, if one gets half or some part of Fatiah one can follow the Imam for Ruku.
