  • Pitching Your Own Agency To A Client Of Your Employer

If you are working for a company and your company has a client that you are dealing with. You see that this client is not happy paying high amount to your agency.

Would it be sinful to pitch that client to work with you independently of that agency? Given that you have permission to work freelance.

Generally your contract with your employer has a clause forbidding you to directly work with their clients. As a Muslim you are required to honor your contract. Even if such a clause is not explicitly written in the contract, it is unethical to steal your employer’s clients. Anything unethical is also prohibited in Islam.

What if that clients leaves the agency and is an ex-client of that agency. Can we pitch him then?

If it is not against your contract then that should be okay. Generally employers have a Non-compete clause in their contracts which prohibits one from working with their clients or ex-clients for a specified period of time.
