I hope my question finds everyone well. Within Pakistan, physicians charge surgeons a referral fee for sending them patients. I had a question if this is Haraam. Further, provided a surgeon and physician work at the same hospital and the hospital itself pays the physician more for referring a patient, is it Haraam for the surgeon to partake in this action?

This is a widespread practice across the medical field in Pakistan. I am unsure if this is Haraam or not.

Ghamidi Sahab is of view that such practices are an extension of the concept of bribery and against the ethics of healthcare profession, which demands complete transparency by doctors.

Following comments of Ghamidi Sahab relate to commission taken by doctors for referring products of one specific pharmaceutical company but the same principle can be applied to similar forms of referral commissions in the healthcare sector.
