It is referring to the real or half sister of a father and a mother (half sister from Father’s side or Mother’s side).
Half sister from Father’s side has been referred to with word سوتیلی in urdu.

If سوتیلی is half sister then what does Maa shareek signify. As half sister would suffice for both wether mother is common or father is common

You are right, it does. But I am not sure why this specific arrangement is used by Ghamidi Sahab. May be Dr. Irfan Shahzad Sahab ( @Irfan76 ) can shed some light on this matter.

I too am not sure. Perhaps the word Sotaila or Sotaili usually refers to half sister or brother from the father that is why maa shareek is added to it.

The confirmation has already been done by Dr. Shehzad Saleem when he rendered English Translation of Mizan and used the term “Half Sister” for both ‘Sautili‘ and ‘Maa Sahrik‘, (Please see: Discussion 29875).
