  • What About The Descendants Of Other People Who Were Saved From The Flood?

    Posted by Muhammad Sami Uddin on July 7, 2023 at 11:09 am

    Assealmu aleykum,

    Why there is no evidence for the descendants of the other people who were in the ship of Prophet Nuh (as)? According to studies, we finds out that there are only three races, who are descended from the three sons of Prophet Nuh (as), Saam (Shem), Yafez (Japheth), and Ham. Why there are no trace of the descendants of the ummah of Prophet Nuh (as).

    Kindly clarify.

    There might be descendants of the other people who were with Noah, but their progeny could never come to notice. Only the progeny of Noah come afore. They were greater in numbers, they established empires and great cities. The descendants of other people, if they were, could not make some marks to be noticed and recorded by history.

    According to Ustad-e-Mohtaram (ha), every nation has been successful, first the Hamites, then the Semitic people, and now finally the Japhetites. So why they didn’t established any empire if they were saved from the flood? Allah Almighty does not do injustice to anyone.

    Also i wants to ask, that if they were not, can we securely believe that the only ummah of Prophet Nuh (as) were; his sons, and their wives? As stated by this Quora user;

    Many people have different stances on this point.

    Allah did not do injustice. If some people do not rise like others, it involves many factors. It happens even today that a son of a man achieves far more than his siblings or his progeny prospers more than others. Why it happens, we do not know.

    According to the Quran, not only Noah’s family but other believers too were saved:

    حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ قُلْنَا احْمِلْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ وَمَنْ آمَنَ ۚ وَمَا آمَنَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ ‎

    They continued to do this until when Our directive arrived and the storm erupted, [161] We said: “Place in the ship a pair of every type [of animal species] both [male and female] and also board your family on this ship except for those about whom a judgement has been passed and they also who have professed faith – and few were the ones who had professed faith with him.” (11:40)

    Still, it’s confusing for me that the descendants of the prophet Nuh (as) were in great number. Because, his progeny continued through his three sons only. While, the other people would probably be in the great number from them.

    Alhamdulillah, Finally i got my answer, from the Qur’anic verse 37:77 “and [in later times] made only his progeny to survive [i.e Shem, Ham, and Japheth].” (javedahmedghamidi.org)
