I could not understand what the “amaanah” is in Surah Ahzab aayaat 72, 73 was. I was pondering over them and something crossed my mind, may be “the amaanah” is :

“yuazziba allahul munaafiqeena wal munaafiqaat wal mushrikeena wal mushrikaat wa yatooballahu alal mumineena wal muminaat”

May be this whole task mentioned in aayat 73 is what “the amaanah” is? The next words “wa kaanallahu ghafoorar raheema” may mean that Allah will forgive any transgressions by man, in fulfilling this amaanah, because a human being is zalooman jahoola (mentioned in aayat 72)

This may be linked to “qaanoon e itmaam e hujjat” mentioned by Ghamidi saahab. Please think about it and correct me if I’m wrong.

It was the trust of volition:

See Ghamidi saheb’s translation and parenthetical notes:

[This demand of obedience is on the basis of the power to exercise their will that We blessed human beings with.] We had presented this trust before the earth, the heavens and the mountains but they had declined and became scared of it, but human beings bore it. In reality, they are very unjust and ones who are overwhelmed with emotions.

It was presented so that God [as its essential consequence] punish hypocrite men and hypocrite women and idolatrous men and idolatrous women and bless believing men and believing women with His favours. God is Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.[145]
