Is standing for national anthem is Shirk, I have heard many Ulama saying that but as always I prefer logical reason, not emotional, so what is Our Ustaz Javed Ahmad’s position on that. This question come to my mind because today was Afghanistan’s I dependence day so I stood up for our national anthem.

it is only Sajda and also Ruku which are made exclusive for the worship of God and therefore to perfrom them for others is not allowed. The rest of the gestures of prayers like standing and sitting in a respectful manner, can be done for others too out of respect and they are not considered shirk. Standing for someone out of respect is well known gesture which is not done to worship a particular person. On the contrary Sajda is always considered as an act of worship only.
