When man get busy in religious services he is unable to earn from other sources. That is why it is justified if he should be compensated for his time. We see in the Quran that God has arranged source of income for his prophet by prescribing the Maal e Fay to be used for his expenses because he was not supposed to go out for earning leaving his job as prophet.

Further, the mujahideen are entitled to get their share from the spoils of war they get from Jihad.

The same is the rule for the ones who render their services for religion. They are entitled to get compensation for their services.

In the following verses, Zil Qurba means, the relatives of the prophet whom the prophet looked afterm like his wives and others.

    59:6-8

And [if the hypocrites ask, tell them:] whatever wealth God returned from these Jews to His Messenger, you spurred neither horse nor camel on them [that you may stake a claim to it]; it is, in fact, God who gives messengers authority over whomsoever He desires, and God has power over all things.

[For this reason,] whatever God returns from these town-dwellers to His Messenger shall remain specifically for God, the Messenger, the kinfolk, the orphan, the destitute and the traveller so that it does not circulate only in the rich among you.[14] And [the status of the] Messenger [is such that] whatever he gives you, accept it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it. And keep fearing God. Indeed, God is stern in retribution.

Then this is especially for those poor immigrants who have been driven out of their homes and their properties. They have come seeking God’s bounty and pleasure and to support God and His Messenger.[17]These are, in fact, the truthful.

    8:41

[You had asked; so] be informed that a fifth of whatever spoils of war you had acquired shall belong only to God, His Prophet, the near relatives [of the Prophet], the orphans, the needy and the wayfarer.[73] [This is the directive of God; obey it without the slightest hesitation] if you believe in God and in that what We had sent down to Our servant on the day of verdict when both groups met, [and bear in mind that] God has power over all things.

    These refer to

“for the sake of worldly interests they should not breech the contracts they have made with the Almighty and also not sacrifice the directives of the Torah for this paltry gain.” (al-Bayan)

These verses have nothing to do with getting compensation for one’s religious services.
