1. Being a prophet is not a matter of honour to begin with, rather it is a rank of high responsibility which requires high endurance to resistance from the family and the nation. And this resistance is not ideological only, rather it comes in many different forms including but not limited to physical harm. Therefore, considering the hardships associated with this position, it appears that God selected some men to take up this responsibility as male gender has more endurance to this kind of resistance because of their innate physical build. Following video explains this matter further.

2. Mairaj was not a physical journey, rather a spiritual one where Prophet (sws) was shown many signs related to his responsibility of prophethood. It was not a meet and greet with other prophets, rather many importance prophecies and signs were shown to the Prophet regarding future which were related to his Prophethood. Even meetings reported with other prophets were also in the same context where either some prophecy was discussed or some important matter related to religion was highlighted.
