    I was just posed a question on the authenticity of ijma and tawatur. what if at a point in history, a person like pharoah, who was considered to be god by the egyptians could have invented a lie and ordered his populace to take it as truth and pass it on to succeeding generations, would this hypothetical scenario would be possible? Since egyptians took pharoahs as god and would have likely followed whatever he said.

    secondly, why was qirat e amah not adopted by some north african countries despite it having ijma and tawatur? how come a person imposed another qirat on these nations and they did not even challenge it if the tawatur of qirat e amah was so strong. please clarify @UmerQureshi @Irfan76 @faisalharoon

    Ijma and tawtur mean that the information a community has, it passes on to other generations and communities, no matter whether the information is false or real. It has been narrated in history that the pharaohs ruled Egypt claiming to be gods. This is an established history. What is actually true or false is not determined by Ijma and Tawatur. It just shows the continuity of a tradition.

    Second question, other readings of the Quran were not supposed to be contradictory to Qirat e amma, some scholars preferred some individual recitations. The judge of Qerawan preferred the Qirat of Nafay. Ghamidi saheb writes:

    قاضی عبداللہ بن طالب نے تیسری صدی ہجری کے آخر میں یہ حکم جاری کر دیا کہ لوگوں کو صرف نافع کی قراء ت پڑھائی جائے گی۔ * لہٰذا عام مسلمان بھی اِس کے بعد قیروان اور اُس کے زیراثر مغرب کے بعض علاقوں میں اِسی قراء ت کے مطابق قرآن پڑھنے کے لیے مجبور ہو گئے اور آج تک پڑھ رہے ہیں۔ اِس حکم کا باعث غالباً یہ ہوا کہ یہ لوگ فقہ مالکی کے پیرو تھے اور امام مالک کے بارے میں ہم اوپر بیان کر چکے ہیں کہ وہ قراء ت میں نافع کے اختیار کو ترجیح دیتے تھے۔
