    Assalamu Alaikum

Ghamidi sahab translated Yunus:87 with these words, “We sent revelations to Moses and his brother [Aaron]: “Mark some houses in Egypt for your nation, and the houses you mark for your selves make them your qiblah and arrange to pray [in them] and [O Moses!] Give glad tidings to the believers “. But except his and Maulana Islahi’s translation, i tried to read some other translations, no one translates with these words. Some translated the word Qibla as mosque, some translated as “in the direction of (bait-ul-haram) Qibla. Even in Tabari under the line “واجعلو بیوتکم قبلہ”, Tabari has brought explanations by many other tabi’in and even Ibn e Abbas. No one translated the way Ghamidi sahab and Maulana Islahi did. Watched Ghamidi sahab’s video on verse 87, didn’t get anything there either. I am off the opinion that it’s the Qur’an’s words which are decisive, but no one is translating that way. There must be an explanation? Why? Even Ibn e Abbas, if that is a authentic reference.

May be Dr. Irfan Shahzad Sahab ( @Irfan76 ) can add some insight into this.

Saeed bin Jubair had the same understanding. Tabri quotes him as the third opinion.

    وقال سعيد بن جبير { وَٱجْعَلُواْ بُيُوتَكُمْ قِبْلَةً } أي يقابل بعضها بعضاً.

This is a matter of understanding. Since the words clearly state that these houses were Qibla, so they were the Qibla. The addition of Kaaba as their Qibla finds no room in this structure of sentence.
