There is no religious directive regarding which measures to take for correcting behaviour in a child/student, rather this is something which falls in the domain of sociology and psychology which needs to done very carefully after giving due regard to the age, mental maturity and psychology of the children. Current studies indicate that this habitual behaviour of beating children is counter productive in their personality development and should be avoided. Infact when such a beating or humiliation results in violence, then Islam gives a right to the victim to claim Qisas for any injury sustained by the victim.
