Giving Zakat For Human Welfare Projects
Assalam Alaikum,
I intend to send my funds to a charity organization that builds water hand pump for needy people (in Pakistan).
My question is, the hand pump will be built after 6 months, though I give Zakat every Ramadan (by this time each year), does that mean my Zakat is inevitably delayed? or is it the time I “give” that matters than when they receive it?
Is it advisable to give Zakat in this way? for this cause? jazakAllah khair!

Of course, zakat can be given to any human welfare projects. How long it takes for a given project to complete has no bearing on one’s obligation.
