Quran has given norms of gender interaction for both men and women which can be read at the following thread:

    Discussion 30301

For women, there are some additional requirements and as long as those requirements are fulfilled, there can be no objection from Sharia Standpoint. Sitting postures mainly are influenced by culture, there is no hard and fast rule in this regard. As long as a particular sitting posture is not violating the above norms given in Quran (for both men and women), there can be no objection and such cultural norms can be ignored.

However it is better to act sensibly considering the cultutal sensitivities of a particular culture. It is not a religious advice rather a practical one.
