Noor (Reflected Light)
I saw an Arab atheist claiming that the meaning of the Arabic word nur is not “reflected light”; its meaning is just “light”.
If its meaning is ” reflected light” there is no problem, but if its meaning renders ” light” there is a problem because then the above verse will be considered a scientific error.
Could you please provide the proper meaning of nur according to authentic references?

Qur’an uses literary language not scientific language. In common parlance the sun still sets in the west and rises in the east although they are “scientific error”.
In common language every light is Nur. The scientific meaning is not considered here.

Then why does some of our scholars have deliberately put the reflected word in the verse? Although nur has nothing to do with reflected it just means Light.
Second question is,
In Quran 21.31 “اور ہمنے زمین پر پہاڑ بنادیے تاکہ وہ ان کو لیکر لڑھک نا جائیں “
Science tells mountains doesn’t prevent us from earth quacks. So what this sentence in Quran is talking about?

This should be asked of them. They might want to make the Quran compatible with scientific facts without realizing that the Quran is not in scientific language.
it is not about earthquakes but the holding of the earth’s crust from moving. Science did not refute it as its research in this area is not finalized.
