Sins Done Under Intoxication
hey there Assallam u alaikum,
my question is that if someone does a sin of drinking alcohol and afterwards he becomes intoxicated. the sins that he does in the state of intoxication, which he would have not done in normal conditions. will all those sins be counted to the full as if he was doing them while being alright? even if his mental capacity becomes foggy and he can’t properly judge the matter of seriousness of a sin, will the sin be counted to it’s full as if he did it without intoxication?

Since the sin of intoxication is done deliberately therefore he is responsible for the aftermaths.

@Irfan76 so what i understand from this is that even if that sins he did were done by him not under his control like he wasn’t aware of them being sin in Islam after being intoxicated, but he won’t receive the concession of forgiveness in doing a sin without awareness. because he was aware that such thing will cause me sin unintentionally but still he went ahead and intoxicated himself and placed himself in that situation.
i just want to know about two examples,
1 – a person who was eating pork meant knowing it is Haram, but he wasn’t aware that this pork meat is drugged. so after eating pork he got intoxicated and lost his awareness and committed further sins. will he receive sin/punishment for these further Haram things he did unintentionally?
2 – a person who knows that intoxication strips a person from awareness of good and bad. and it leads to a person doing further sins. but this man for this very reason whenever he drink alcohol because of his addiction, drinks it only at night before sleeping so that after drinking he sleeps and doesn’t commit any other sin. so one day normally he was drinking it at night and he was having this idea in mind that this intoxication will not potentially lead him to doing further sins unintentionally because he will sleep after this. but that particular day after drinking he had to go out suddenly due to an emergency. after getting the work done, he was heading back home and in the way he saw a brothel and went there without thinking and ended up in Zina without being aware that it’s a sin. in morning he realized what he did. so will this person also be not receiving the concession? and he will also be given sin of doing Zina? even though he thought that most probably he won’t do any further sin after intoxication like routine?

@Irfan76 sir just as a principle reference i will put forward an example then tell you my understanding of above examples. the person who was about to drink alcohol knew that this thing can intoxicate me to an extent that i would forget and won’t be aware of halal and Haram in a sense that i won’t be able to detect what is Haram and I’ll fall in it without realizing I’m doing something Haram. but despite this he goes ahead and then drinks alcohol. Now, if this man after drinking alcohol doesn’t do any further sins under intoxication then he would remain only sinful for drinking alcohol (because while drinking he was aware that it is Haram). But if this man after drinking alcohol, for suppose while walking outside sees a burger at a table of an outdoor restaurant. and he feels urge to eat, so he simply goes there and eats it without having any awareness that this thing is someone else’s property and Haram on him. but here he won’t be giving left unaccountable and he will receive sin for eating the burger even without awareness of it being Haram.
now i come to my understanding of example 1, this man i guess would only receive sin for eating pork because this is what he deliberately did. but because he didn’t know that he will get intoxicated, so after he gets intoxicated and then commits a sin (for suppose, of exposing someone’s personal weakness), he also did this sin while being unaware that he’s doing something Haram, similar to above example, but he won’t recieve further sin for this exposing weakness of someone else. because he didn’t know he would reach this stage of diminished intellect after eating pork (he didn’t know he would be intoxicated and then commit sins unintentionally).

Whatever the sina he commits under the effects of intoxication he will be sinful because he deliberately chose to be intoxicated.

@Irfan76 so sir the example of the person who was eating pork, but did not knew some intoxicant has been infused in it by someone else. if this person eats pork knowing that eating pork is Haram but he still chooses to eat to it but unintentionally gets intoxicated as well too. the sins that he does under this influence of intoxication, he won’t be sinful for those sins that he commit under intoxication because he wasn’t aware of the intoxicant infused in the pork meat. but he would only receive the sin for his action of eating pork meat. right sir?

@Irfan76 sir what I understand is Allah does not hold us accountable for unintentional sins. so unintentional sins are pardoned automatically without the personal doing anything.
but one of the conditions I noticed where an unintentional sin will be punished, is when a person does a Haram action while knowing that this Haram action may cause me directly to fall into unintentional sins. so if he continues despite this knowledge, then the unintentional sins that follow up are punished and not forgiven like the general rule. like example of intoxicant
is there any other condition where a person loses this forgiveness for unintentional sins? if some unintentional sins happen which are caused directly by some Haram action, But the person while committing that particular Haram action did not know that this Haram action will lead me to unintentional sins later. so in this case will the unintentional sins be forgiven like general principle? or he’ll be punished for those later unintentional sins too?

When one doesn’t know that something will lead him to unintentional sins he is not responsible for those sins. But there is no real example of it is in my knowledge

@Irfan76 sir i mean an example of it will be that man who ate pork meat knowing that pork meat is Haram but didn’t know that this meat was drugged or will cause him intoxication. i mean this example can be used as a reference.
sir i would like to ask something more that, if a person knows that the halal thing he’s doing will also lead him to many incidents of quick unintentional sins. like a person who is heading towards gym to do exercise knows that many times before, he has fallen into feelings of unnoticed pride and for a while these feelings stayed and his mind thinks “look at this poor skinny guy, can’t even lift 4kg whereas i can lift 15kg with ease”. he gets the thoughts and feelings of pride unintentionally, until he realizes that this is sin, the moment he realizes it he corrects himself. but those past 5 – 10 seconds passed in unintentional sin. he often a times find himself in these feelings and thinkings in different forms especially in gym.
so i wanted to ask that despite this knowledge if he goes to gym, and then falls into same unintentional sins. will he be punished for those sins? as he knew they’ll come.
Sir please tell me that is the example of Drugged pork meat i used above, correct? and also please tell me about this going to gym question.

@Irfan76 sir I’ll just put 2 short examples, which seem (to me) to have some sort of similarity. can you please explain me it’s difference in ruling?
Any Haram act we do unintentionally, we don’t get any sin and we are forgiven without any Tawbah.
1- A man who gets intoxicated deliberately, loses his concious levels… and subsequently commits immoral actions unintentionally ie zina (he lost awareness that he is doing something Haram, and gets it done) here even though he committed a Haram unintentionally, he won’t be given concession of forgiveness on doing unintentional Zina. He lost this concession because he knew if he drinks alcohol, his intoxication will cause him to fall in sins unintendedly.
2 – A man who goes to gym, knows that he’ll fall into a Haram thing unintentionally, in the form of, he getting unintentionally thinking himself to be superior to others and think less of others, because he’s the most strongest person in gym and all others are weak and thin. as soon as he gets aware of what is going on is Haram feelings, he removes them. but this short burst of unintentionally doing sin of thinking low of others, will happen very very likely. But here we say that since he stayed in pride feelings without being aware for a while, this unintentional Haram will be forgiven with full concession, and he won’t receive any sin at all.
In example 1, the man knew that he’s putting himself in intoxicated state and this will be followed up by unintentional sins, this thing will cause him to lose concession of any unintentional Haram he does, once he gets intoxicated by his choice. But in example 2, the gym man also knew that he’ll commit some Haram unintentionally if he puts himself in a state of being at gym and doing exercise there, but this man we say, will get full concession of forgiveness, if he commits unintentional sin of pride at any moment, once he goes to gym.
Can you please explain me it’s difference sir? what is the difference if ruling and where exactly the principle lies?
