How To Determine If Hajj Is A Better Option Than Charity??
It seems like these days Hajj is excessively controlled by government and has become a monopoly. Realizing that regardless of cost, it will be sold out each year, people are being foced to pay extremely exorbitant and unjustifiable charges. Plainly speaking, it is a ripoff. With this assessment, if a person can afford, should the person still pay unreasonable amounts or instead spend money for Charity to help numerous people out of difficult situation?

Every relation demands expressions of the affiliation. We show our expressions through our gestures and by spending money as money is very dear to us. This consolidated our relationship with someone we care.
God has demanded to show our affiliation with him the both ways. We not only worship Him with our prayers and keeping fast but also spend our money in the ways He told us to spend.
Hajj is the only worship which takes us to His house. A Muslim who can afford can ever stay back.
What the Saudi government is doing that is their part. We should not avoid am important ritual for their exploitation as one perceives it.

Assalam-o-Alaikam Dr. Irfan. Just to understand the issue I am raising, let’s take an extreme case. Let’s say Saudi Government increases the cost of Hajj to 100k. Let’s say a person can still afford it. Is Hajj still farz on him and is he required to pay such unrealistic cost?
