Ibn-e-Majah 1385 – Waseela In Prayer Of A Blind Person Taught By Prophet (Sws)
Assalamualaikum!
I have attached a screenshot of an authentic Hadith along with the reference, in which the Holy Prophet PBUH himself taught a Dua to a person, asked him to go and pray Salah and then say those words. It involves words of supplication through him “Oh Muhammad!…..”
The words are part of the Dua and are to be said after praying 2 nafil.
Does this not prove that waseelah is permissable?

It is fine to ask someone to pray for himself. The prophet prayed for the man. This is what he was referring to, that he was praying through prophet. It has nothing to do with the concept of waseela found in some circles of the Muslims. There is no such thing in Deen. We are told to pray straight to God. Mention of someone doesn’t add any thing to Dua which may persuade God more. God listens to every prayer and answer it on merit.

اس حاجت کے سلسلے میں اپنے رب کی
“طرف توجہ کرتا ہوں
The Holy Prophet PBUH asked to say these words as integral part of the Dua.
If it is not allowed, and I totally respect this opinion, then wouldn’t it have been more relevant to merely mention the name of the prophet without calling him out?

The person was there in the presence of the prophet. It is natural way to mention him this way then there.

Yes sir definitely it is natural to mention him by calling directly.
But my point is that why did the prophet PBUH taught him to call upon himself, when the person had already approached and asked for making a Dua?

It was very important teaching by the prophet.
Dua is essentially a direct relation of man with God. People tend to find mediators as we see in the cases of peeri mureedi. Their mentors become mediator between them and their God. They adopt the idea that God listens to their favourite ones so they should request them to pray to God on their behalf. In this way their direct relation with God breaks.
