Study Or Research Work While In The Office
Assalamu Alaikum, can a person do his study, or research work or any other work by asking his reporting authority (manager) during office hours when he is free from work? Actually at that time a person is free, he maybe watching youtube, or pass his time when there’s no work in the office. He has some work in which he wants to utilize his time, can he just ask his manager if he allows? then will it be halal?

This is about professional ethics and has to be decided by the person and professional ethical norms. If without disturbing the job’s requirements one feels he has free time to use for anything beneficial, there seems no problem here.
