حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ كَثِيرِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ حَرِيزِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْفٍ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِيكَرِبَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ “ أَلاَ إِنِّي أُوتِيتُ الْكِتَابَ وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ أَلاَ يُوشِكُ رَجُلٌ شَبْعَانُ عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ يَقُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذَا الْقُرْآنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ حَلاَلٍ فَأَحِلُّوهُ وَمَا وَجَدْتُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ حَرَامٍ فَحَرِّمُوهُ أَلاَ لاَ يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ لَحْمُ الْحِمَارِ الأَهْلِيِّ وَلاَ كُلُّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السَّبُعِ وَلاَ لُقَطَةُ مُعَاهِدٍ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَسْتَغْنِيَ عَنْهَا صَاحِبُهَا وَمَنْ نَزَلَ بِقَوْمٍ فَعَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَقْرُوهُ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَقْرُوهُ فَلَهُ أَنْ يُعْقِبَهُمْ بِمِثْلِ قِرَاهُ ” .
مقدام بن معد یکرب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ” سنو ، مجھے کتاب ( قرآن ) دی گئی ہے اور اس کے ساتھ اسی کے مثل ایک اور چیز بھی ، قریب ہے کہ ایک آسودہ آدمی اپنے تخت پر ٹیک لگائے ہوئے کہے ۱؎: اس قرآن کو لازم پکڑو ، جو کچھ تم اس میں حلال پاؤ اسی کو حلال سمجھو ، اور جو اس میں حرام پاؤ ، اسی کو حرام سمجھو ، سنو ! تمہارے لیے پالتو گدھے کا گوشت حلال نہیں ، اور نہ کسی نوکیلے دانت والے درندے کا ، اور نہ تمہارے لیے کسی ذمی کی پڑی ہوئی چیز حلال ہے سوائے اس کے کہ اس کا مالک اس سے دستبردار ہو جائے ، اور اگر کوئی کسی قوم میں قیام کرے تو ان پر اس کی ضیافت لازم ہے ، اور اگر وہ اس کی ضیافت نہ کریں تو اسے حق ہے کہ وہ ان سے مہمانی کے بقدر لے لے ۲؎ “ ۔

It means that the Prophet holds the exclusive authority to explain Shariah, whether it is derived from the Qur’an or outside of it. However, all of his statements align with the Qur’an. The principles of what is Haram (forbidden) and Halal (permissible) are established in the Qur’an, and based on these principles, the Prophet applied rulings to matters not explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an.
During the Prophet’s time, traveling was arduous. To safeguard the well-being of travelers, the Prophet emphasized the importance of taking care of those who stayed with others or passed through their area while on their journeys.

So sir doesn’t that make wearing red color, wearing rings on some specific fingers, etc haram? As they are not mentioned in Qur’an but they are in the hadith?

The principle of prohibition states that if the reason or cause (illat) for a prohibition is permanent and universal, the prohibition will be general and lasting. However, if the reason is specific or temporary, the prohibition will be limited to that context. For example, the prohibition on consuming certain birds and predatory animals mentioned in Ahadith is universal and permanent, because beast are prohibited to consume.
In contrast, the prohibition on men wearing silk or gold was based on their association with arrogance and superiority, making them forbidden. If silk becomes as common as ordinary clothing, it would no longer be considered haram for men to wear.
