  • Question On Ihram – Who Is Considered A Temporary Resident

Posted by Sharjeel Fraz on September 27, 2024 at 9:17 pm

    Salam,

I will be travelling to Jeddah from Dubai, staying one night there. Then going to Makkah and will do the Umrah on my 2nd day in Makkah. I will be staying in Makkah for 6 days. Do I need to be in a state of Ihram from the Meekat point upon entering Jeddah and stay in Ihram for 3 days until I do Umrah?

I also want to visit the historical sites around the area. Once I complete Umrah, I may do another Umrah just to be within the Haram premises. If I want to do another Umrah then do I need to be in a state of Ihram the night before I plan to do it? As I will be staying In Makkah for 6 days. Or do I need to be in state of Ihram just before I start going towards Umrah from my hotel?

I hope my question makes sense.

It is not necessary to enter into Makkah in the state of ihram. If can plan to make it later. In that case You have to go to nearest meeqat to wear ihram.

Thank you Dr Shahzad for taking your time and responding to my question. I immensely appreciate your efforts towards our religion. Just to be clear, we arrive in Jeddah, spend the night there. Then go to Makkah, where we are staying 6 nights. I plan to do Umrah on my second day in Makkah. So I adopt the state of irham in the morning of that same day? Our hotel is outside the Haram area but within the boundaries of the meeqat. So I travel outside the boundary, and at a Meeqat point wear the ihram? If I plan to do 3-4 Umrah’s (just to experience it again) then each time I go travel back outside the Meeqat boundary and wear the Ihram?

Yes. Just like the makkans do.
