If a living person cannot change the outcome of a deceased person’s judgment on the Day of Judgment, then what is the purpose of offering Namaz-e-Janazah (the funeral prayer)? If funeral prayer can, then why Esaal e sawab cannot do same thing?

P.S I know funeral prayer is ordained by Prophet (saw) but the the logic should remain same.

Funeral prayer or prayer of forgiveness for others is a request to God for the forgiveness of the deceased. The Qur’an tells that angels too asks for our forgiveness to God.

God knows already what to do, but these requests shows our humanity and compassion for others and reflect our belief that only God can forgives.

As for Isaal e Sawab. There is no concept of transferring of one’s deeds to other, except when the other person initiated or instructed a good deed and others follow it or get benefit from it.
