I have a very strange question about 5 times prayer .

Prayer practically never stopped in Madina Since Prophet’s SAW era .

    How come differences developed .

What happened to continuity of day after day 5 times a day .

Who challenged way of prayer .

Even a minor difference shouldn’t be seen .

How come people started having differences.

I have read some where that before Al Saud took over .

4 Immam used to lead prayers at Khana Kaba with minor differences .

My curiosity is when and why the difference started .

I understand the view of respected Ghamdi Sahib that these are differences in optional part of prayer but no single difference in mandatory part of prayer.

But still i can’t satisfy my mind about a practice that is carried on daily 5 times a day since Prophet’s SAW Time can develop minor differences.

It is simple. When people started emphasizing a particular optional act to be adopted anyway, despite their knowledge that it is optional, and they still say, the differences are about optional practices, the differences mounted.

The word ‘differences’ is technically not right. These are varieties. The holy prophet used to say prayer using a variety of optional acts. Later, people started giving preferences to one over another, unnecessarily.

    This happens in later generations.
