Marriage Announced To Community But Without Mehar
Asalamualiakum I and my husband announced that we are married to our community. We were not able to follow the adaabs of Nikah due to some reasons. That is there was no khutbah or ceremony, just a wider announcement. The other issue is we didn’t set a mehr amount. Is our Nikah valid? If it is, how can we manage mehr now?

If it is declared it is valid. The essential is done. You can decide on the mehr now.

Asalamualiakum thank you for your reply. Can you let me know the Quranic and Islamic references that Ghamidhi Sahab use to establish that witnesses are not required for Nikkah and declaration in wider community is enough.

It is a matter of common sense. Making the whole community a witness, essentially fulfills the requirement. Two witnesses are appointed formally to be called to hold witnesses when needed.
