It is usually used in the context of Tasawwuf. How sufis call this world an entangled web of materialism and nothing more. And to reach true reality, one must first free himself from this web by practicing asceticism by cutting off from this material world. Then there are several rituals/routines which are to be followed in order to achieve this stage. Ghamidi Sahab has used this sentence on several occasions in the context of Sufism.
