    Assalamu alaikum

I heard Ghamdi sahab mentioning that, Allah has not put any restrictions for men on how many women they marry however other scholars derive the max number of women they can marry as 4 from verse 4:3

Similary from verse 4:6, some scholars derived that the minmum age limit is set as puberty+maturity and they say rulers are not allowed to put permanent minimum age limit for marriage because Allah has allowed them to marry after puberty+maturity.

Can you please explain, is this type of approach for derivation of laws is allowed, if not why. Pls provide some examples of issues caused by this approach

    JazakaAllahu khair

Ghamidi saheb did not say that there is no limit for marrying women on man. In the light of Qur’an he makes it maximum 4 wives a man can take in marriage in one time.

About the second part, government is allowed to legislate the minimum marriageable age. There is no restriction.

He did not mention that it is more than four, rather he says it is more than one marriage, which is allowed. However, about the question of the maximum number of marriages at one time, he has mentioned in Tafseer, Al Bayan that having more than four wives is not allowed.
