Is there any hadith which shows that only display of adornments is unpermitted?

Hijab is not mandatory.

It is mentioned in the Quran that the adornment has to be covered, except for what usually stays exposed like that of the face and hands. Especially, the adornment on the chest has to be covered. See the verse 24: 31.
