There are numerous hadiths which states Ayesha’s age was 9 when she got married. Ghamidi sir call it a historical error and claims she was 19. But it isn’t one incident of Ayesha. Prophet Muhammad’s own daughter Zainab was married to Abu Al Aas before Muhammad declared prophethood. If we calculate her age at that time, she was 10 or less than 10. Muhammad’s other two daughter Ruqayya and Um kalsoom were in Nikkah of sons of Abu Lahab which broker up after declaration of prophethood. If we calculate those ages too they were even younger than Zainab. Similarly, Hazrat Ali’s daughter married Hazrat Umar and she’s was very young too.

I don’t know how you calculate the ages.

In the absence of calender the ages were mentioned approximately. Therefore is no definite way to know the exact ages. A margin of few years is expected in the mentioned ages.

They were married in a marriageable age. Because there is no complain for their being minor.

I calculated the age of Zainab. She was married before Nabuwat to Abu Al Aas. And she was born when Prophet was 28, 29 or 30 as she was second child, the first one was boy who died. So she is not older than being 10 or 11 or 12. Is this age marraigeable?

      What sources say that?

Second child can be born in at the age of 26 or 27. So she has time to attain the marriageable age. That is why she got married. This is early marriageable age. In our culture too, girls were married at the age of 14, a generation or two before.

This has been considered marriageable age and the girls were trained accordingly. Also the boyes were married in early age. The would hold their responsibility in early age. Now boys and girls of this age are considered children and treated like that.

I think it’s important to not bring the argument of marriage at a young age being the culture of that time. It’s wrong because Islam is always the same, it doesn’t care what the cultural practise were at the time.

The Quran in Surah nisa (chapter 4) verse 6 says that the age of marriage is when someone reaches mental maturity ie an age where they can handle their finances/an orphan can be given control of their finances.

It’s important to look into the sources being used too because we have to make sure we’re getting the correct information
