    Doing Tayammum In Extreme Cold When Ghusl Is Due

    Does a person necessarily have to do ghusl before praying if in the state of junoob or can tayammum suffice in the case that water is present but doing ghusl especially in extremely cold environments (eg.Nordic regions) or in the night, can result in human illnesses?

    The principle is to avoid unusual hardship in matters of worship. The person has to decide who is involved in the situation.

    There is a tradition that the companion of the prophet, Amr Ibn Aas, once performed Tayammum due to severe cold in this condition of impurity, and the prophet did not disapproved it.
