(Asking on behalf of a member)

There was revealed: ’Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and those who strive and fight in the Cause of Allah.’ (4.95) The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ”Call Zaid for me and let him bring the board, the inkpot and the scapula bone (or the scapula bone and the ink pot).”’ Then he said, ”Write: ’Not equal are those Believers who sit..”, and at that time `Amr bin Um Maktum, the blind man was sitting behind the Prophet (ﷺ) . He said, ”O Allah’s Apostle! What is your order For me (as regards the above Verse) as I am a blind man?” So, instead of the above Verse, the following Verse was revealed: ’Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame etc.) and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah.’ (4.95)

DOESN’T IT SEEMS LIKE ACCORDING TO THIS HADITH THAT GOD FORGET TO MENTIONED PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND ITS JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT A BLIND MAN IBN UMM MAKTUM WAS PRESENT LISTENING THIS REVELATION AND HE MENTIONED ABOUT WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE HIM DISABLE SO THE PROPHET WAS LIKE OH SORRY I FORGOT THEN HE CHANGES THE VERSES ADDED LATER ON AS INSISTED BY THE BLIND GUY?

Tafseeri literature is not a reliable one. Imam Ahmad bin Hanble is reported to have said:

ثلاثۃ لیس لھا اصل التفسیر و المغازی والملاحم“
    (الاتقان،ج2،ص178۔از: علامہ جلال الدین سیوطیؒ۔

“Three things have no firm basis: Tafseer (Qur’anic exegesis), Maghazi (narrations about battles), and Malahim (accounts of end-times conflicts).”

This means that traditions regarding these topics are mostly not reliable.

Muhadditheen (The expert on Hadith science) shows doubts in Israel’s narration (the main narrator) when he narrates from Ishaq.

Having said that now see the way the verse is not narrated here is not registered in the Quran:

The Hadith’s quotation: لا يستوي القاعدون من المؤمنين والمجاهدون في سبيل الله غير اولي الضرر
    Quran’s quotation:

So U mean to say that this hadith is not reliable?

The mistake in quoting the verse in the narration and the criticism on the main narrator suggests that the narration is not reliable.

Okay thnx for replying Irfan Bhai this Hadith was giving me a good trouble I came to this hadith as to see whether are there any hadith that gives an idea that Quran was been written in prophet time or not as we see in this hadith that prophet called Zaid IBN Tabit with the writing ink and all . I am not convinced that the Qur’an is preserved as there are people who says that it isn’t preserved and there are diff in hafs and warsh

The Quran has always been transmitted through Tawatur (continuous and reliable transmission), just as it is today, making any alteration impossible. Variations in Qira’at align with the primary recitation, Qira’at-e-Ammah, which has remained clear and consistent. These variations are reported by individuals, but none of these reports can be traced back authentically and directly to the Holy Prophet.

The word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and justice. Nothing can change His words, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing(Sūratِ al-An‘ām, No.6, Āyat 115)

Also Verse 64, Surah Yunus states this that word of God doesnt change.

As ghamidi sb says, use Quran to verify hadith not the other way around.

What? I learnt something new ! What I heard from other mainstream scholars that all the qiraats goes back to prophet?

Ok if it isn’t then I don’t think it’s a problem bcoz it goes back to the prophet then what I think there is no problem bcoz after all they all came from the original source so no problem.

Now the second scenario as u said Irfan Bhai if the chain of qiraats doesn’t go back to prophet then don’t u think it’s a problem bcoz it’s like people r having their own version. Like the parts of world where people are using warsh don’t U think they are being misguided and warsh created his own recitation doesn’t that makes the position of Quran look ugly?

I know that we should look in Quran to verify but I feel something is there which doesn’t make my heart satisfied on Quran preservation.

2)Now let me put another argument in it. Ghamidi Sahab refferred to Quran 75:17 as

” It is certainly upon Us to ˹make you˺ memorize and recite it.”

Now this verse gives us a proof and I was satisfied with it but I still wanted some historical proof I know that U will say ijma is the proof but what is the realiblity of it anyways, but I saw a hadith regarding to this verse which arises doubt according to ghamidi Sahab this verse means collection in every firm whether it be in prophet heart or in the mushaf god is taking responsibility in every form isn’t it? But according to this Hadith when this verse says collection it means collection in prophet mind only not in any physical form of a mushaf or something. So according to this perception god isn’t talking about the Qur’an we see today. Here is the hadith -:Sahih al-Bukhari 4928

“That he asked Said bin Jubair regarding (the statement of Allah). 'Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur'an) to make haste therewith.' He said, "IbnAbbas said that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to move his lips when the Divine Inspiration was being revealed to him. So the Prophet (ﷺ) was ordered not to move his tongue, which he used to do, lest some words should escape his memory. ‘It is for Us to collect it’ means, We will collect it in your chest;’ and its recitation’ means, We will make you recite it. ‘But when We recite it (i.e. when it is revealed to you), follow its recital; it is for Us to explain it and make it clear,’ (i.e. We will explain it through your tongue).”

I may did a mistake in understanding sorry for that. Sorry for a big reply

How ijma works? See around, the whole Muslim Ummah agreed upon a version of the Quran, they are reciting it, memorizing it, writing commentary on it, giving dars with it, and jurists referring it. The whole community is dealing with the Quran. It is impossible for anyone to add or remove a single word from it and make the whole community forget it.

This had been the situation since the time of the prophet. No individual report can change this fact.

Qirats other than the qirat e amma, are not different versions of the Quran but here and there some words are differently pronounced and a word or two are added. These came through individual reporting.

For details, the video series is recommended.

See Dr Shehzad Saleem’s book, ‘The History of Quran’ also available in its abridged version.

Thanks and I have ordered Shezad Salim sir book. What U didn’t answer the hadith which I mentioned above. Whats ur opinion on the hadith? Bcoz here the sahaba interpretation is diff from ghamidi Sahab of Quran 75:15

Are there any other scholars during the early centuries who have a similar understanding of Qira’at-e-Ammah as of ghamidi Sahab?

Is there a strong reason to believe in Qira’at-e-Ammah?
